TECH
Sette Dunas TECH builds software for real work and explores how ambitious games can reach affordable handhelds. Our first portability study focuses on Oxygen Not Included and the R36S.
In September 2024, community members added up AliExpress listing counters and reported an estimate of 400,000+ R36S units across marketplace listings. This is an unofficial marketplace estimate, not audited shipments or a count of unique, active devices. Listings can be reused, duplicated, or include clones, so it signals attention—not proven demand or profitability.
Read the community discussionThe R36S is a useful test of what careful engineering can do on limited hardware. It also makes the gaps visible: a PC game cannot simply be copied onto an ARM Linux handheld.
Oxygen Not Included depends on a full game engine and native simulation code. The R36S uses a different processor and software environment, so the project is being rebuilt in stages around a native ARM/Linux runtime.
Map how simulation, world data, saving, and interaction fit together.
Implement and compare individual behaviors with reference cases.
Resolve startup and rendering on the R36S before calling it playable.
Current status — ARM Linux builds and desktop scenarios exist. Full gameplay behavior remains incomplete, and launch on the R36S has not been validated.
This is an independent technical study. Sette Dunas TECH is not affiliated with or endorsed by Klei Entertainment. The project does not claim an official port or commercial rights.
Sette Dunas TECH develops digital products and investigates new ways to bring software to more people. Our architecture tools are active products. Game portability is a new research initiative, beginning with the R36S.

See the current studyWe want to make Claude Code a central part of our software-development workflow: analyzing unfamiliar systems, tracing platform dependencies, refining tests, and debugging low-level behavior. Program support could help us use it more deeply while we develop our existing tools and validate this portability work.
One carefully validated device is the beginning of a repeatable process—not a promise that every game will fit every console.
